ABOUT San Francisco Community Land Trust
The San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create permanently affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income people through community ownership of the land. Guided by the principles of anti-displacement and racial justice, SFCLT stabilizes neighborhoods, and creates greater access to housing and homeownership opportunities with a focus on BIPOC communities previously excluded from access to wealth, and in particular, access to homeownership opportunities.
SFCLT currently owns and operates 14 permanently affordable properties for those of low and moderate income spread throughout San Francisco, including Chinatown,the Mission, the Tenderloin, the Richmond, South of Market, and soon Russian Hill. 73% of our residents are below 80% AMI and 50% below 60% AMI. The 250 residents living currently in our 151 units of housing represent a diversity of races and ethnicities with 70% of our residents identifying as BIPOC.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
● Residential rehabilitation construction management, including but not limited to:
○ scope of work creation
○ physical/capital needs assessments
○ coordinating consultants (architects, general contractors, etc)
○ acting as a liaison between the construction team and the SFCLT team.
● Collaborate with the Acquisitions Committee on feasibility studies and pursuing new project leads including tenant outreach.
● Manage escrow, loan closing, & all other aspects of real estate acquisition together with the Acquisitions Committee.
● Work with bookkeeper to process invoices, draws, & process bills
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have experience working with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, will be passionate about the organization’s mission, and be experienced in project management, facilitation, and working independently with accountability to a team. We hope to hear from candidates who have:
● Deep alignment with & enthusiasm for SFCLT’s mission
● At least 3 years of experience in multi-unit residential housing for the Construction Manager role and 5 years for Director role.
● Fluency in pro forma and budget development
● Familiarity with multi-family residential construction processes; experience as owner’s representative a plus
● Experience managing relationships with contractors & consultants
● Ability to quickly establish credibility and build strong relationships with diverse groups of people, particularly marginalized and housing insecure residents
● Ability to work independently to advance projects while maintaining accountability to a small team
● Commitment to open communication and intentional information-sharing
● Extremely organized and detail-oriented work style
● Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
While not required, skills or experience in any of the following areas/activities are desirable:
● Experience in affordable housing development and especially with SF Mayor’s Office of housing a plus.
● Experience developing pro formas & budgets for existing and new projects
● Rooted in local communities maginalized by gentrification and displacement, including communities of color, low-income, queer, and immigrant residents of San Francisco.
● Experience in horizontal organizations and/or worker cooperatives
● leadership skills, including facilitation and public speaking
● Bilingual fluency and/or basic ability to communicate in non-english languages widely used in SF is a plus.
● Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Pay: $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience for Construction Manager role and $100,000-$130,000 for Director role. SFCLT offers competitive PTO and health benefits.
