Many areas of CLT work are highly technical and therefore the cost of labor can be incredibly high, making it difficult for small developers like CLTs to scale and grow. Areas like real estate development, law, and finance are particularly expensive. That’s why, starting in October 2023, SFCLT launched the CLT Capacity Collaborative or “CCC,” a growing cohort of community land trusts in the Bay Area and beyond committed to working together to leverage shared capacity and resources to pursue our common missions.

To date we have held ten CCC meetings on a monthly basis, creating opportunities for collaboration among CLTs, identifying common challenges, and sharing how to work with lenders and apply for government funds.

We recently launched a pilot program for our CCC members, where we will select three or more projects to offer our technical assistance starting in 2025.
